Sensei Chris is the best! He is relaxed, fun, and yet offers excellent and serious instruction. He is well respected by the kids (and parents too). The Beaverton dojo is a great place for kids, especially with Sensei Chris leading the way to self-discipline, physical education , and of course martial arts training. The group of kids at this dojo are great too. It is a supportive environment. If you live in the area this is the place for martial arts!

“I started karate more than a year and a half ago with Sensei Kramas and its legacy of excellence is now upheld by Sensei Chris who has continued the ideals, honor, discipline and excellence of martial arts in the kempo karate style. I highly recommend this great place of learning in the martial arts discipline to anyone who has ever thought of taking karate. If you’ve seen Karate Kid I/II/III and the new one, it only gets better from there. You will learn, feel, sense and taste victory when you learn how to defend yourself and master an ancient art form that has seen civilizations come and go. I came in as a disciple and it has made a lot of difference for me. I have always hated Physical Education in school since elementary, but one day I came and walked into the doors of this great dojo and found new doors opened for me. I found myself as I never thought I would, a changed person for the better and with greater confidence in myself.
I always feel welcome when I come into the dojo and all my classmates have always been there for me in mind and spirit. I feel blessed to belong to this great dojo where I feel valued. I encourage you to try it out and you may find yourself in the same shoes as I once did, a changed individual for the better.”

“As a family, we’ve had a phenomenal experience over the last 5 years with USSD. Both of my son (13) and daughter (12) earned their Jr. Black Belts a year ago, and are training for their 2nd Degree Black Belts. I earned my 1st Degree Black Belt last year at age 52, and I also am training for my 2nd Degree Black Belt. Our Sensei, Elizabeth Truesdall is fantastic, both with kids and adults. There’s no wondering why she was awarded Instructor of the Year for all of USSD studios nationwide.
Through their experience with USSD, both of my kids have learned that perseverance and hard work pay off. They have learned the benefits of self-discipline and what it means to work towards meaningful goals. Their training has also benefited them in the other sports they play with respect to agility, balance, focus, hand-eye coordination, and commitment to improve.
For me, at age 52, it’s the best exercise someone could ever hope for. I can work out for an hour and be drenched in sweat, and yet not have my knees bothering me.
I can honestly say that my experience with USSD over the last 5 years has truly improved the quality of my life in a very tangible way. I can’t recommend USSD strongly enough for children & adults of all ages.”
